AATI Receives FAA Approval to Begin AiRanger™ Flight Tests with Applied Navigation and Vigilant Spirit’s Quattro
American Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (AATI) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) review and signoff for the AiRanger™ Unmanned Aerial System’s use of Quattro Flight Management System from Applied Navigation. This milestone marks the beginning of flight tests in the national airspace with the Vigilant Spirit and Quattro systems, advancing AATI’s Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) capabilities.
The review, which took place in Bakersfield, CA, included a comprehensive inspection of all documentation, system hardware, and a full systems test. Leveraging the Vigilant Spirit’s active checklist capability, the FAA was able to efficiently evaluate critical systems on the AiRanger™ using a single, streamlined tool. This innovative approach facilitated a thorough and timely review process.
Significantly, the AiRanger™ has received a 91.113(b) Waiver and 44807 Exemption from the FAA, allowing for expanded operational capabilities. With these approvals in place, AATI is now poised to move forward with flights utilizing the new system for BVLOS missions. The Quattro system will be integrated into routine BVLOS flights immediately, setting a new standard for operational efficiency and safety in the industry.
“Utilizing Vigilant Spirit’s Quattro flight management systems is the latest way AATI stays ahead of the curve in aviation technology advancement and integration. The Quattro auto pilot system integrates seemlessly with the AiRanger and we are excited to fly BVLOS with the AiRanger and this integrated system.” Expressed Hovig Yaralian, AATI’s Mission Commander and Flight services manager.
As AATI continues to lead the way in UAS technology and BVLOS operations, this achievement underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the aviation, UAS, oil and gas, and critical infrastructure industries.
