Job Summary:
AATI is seeking an Assembly Technician to join the company’s manufacturing team at their aircraft manufacturing plant in Sterling, Virginia. The Assembly Technician will be responsible for assisting with the assembly of AATI’s AiRangerTM UAS, a Group 3, medium altitude, long endurance unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This position requires some engineering drawing and schematic reading skills, as you must follow the released drawings and inspect your work for accuracy. You will work on an assembly line, so you must have some experience working on a team. Mechanical and manufacturing experience is also beneficial in this role. You must be familiar with both hand and power tools. You should be comfortable working around energized aircraft, as our products require intricate power-on testing and engine break-in procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Interpret and perform equipment assembly according to engineering drawings.
• Perform complex and advanced assembly of products according to established specifications and instructions.
• Perform high precision calibration and advanced adjustments using testing instruments.
• Assist in the improvement and development of assembly and test procedures to promote production of quality products.
• Monitor the functioning of all equipment and report any problems or substandard condition to the supervisor.
• Ensure all job orders, drawings, logbooks, and additional applicable documentation are all maintained according to standard operating procedures.
• Perform pre-assembly activities such as composite trimming, cleaning, touchup painting, and lubricating.
• Conduct product testing, performance testing, and perform final checks/adjustments recording the results and reporting any defects to ensure high quality products.
• Perform installation, repair, inspection, reassembly, replacing, refitting, and adjusting of existing products as required.
• Assist in the development of preventive maintenance procedures to avoid any breakdowns and failures.
• Maintain a SAFE work area that is clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate adaptability by wearing multiple hats and proactively taking on additional responsibilities to contribute to the overall success of the team.
Requirements/Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Manual dexterity and ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Engineering drawing and schematic reading skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
PREFERRED Requirements/Qualifications
• Experience with aspects of medium altitude, long endurance, Group 3 CTOL UAS manufacturing, integration, and flight testing.
• Experience with 4-stroke, single-piston engines
• Aircraft A&P mechanic, auto mechanic and manufacturing experience.
