AATI Receives FAA Waiver and Exemption

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

American Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (AATI) receives groundbreaking FAA Waiver and Exemption for AiRanger UAS Beyond-Visual-Line-Of-Sight (BVLOS) Flight

Conshohocken, PA (04/08/2024) – American Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (AATI), the leader in commercial BVLOS unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), announced that its AiRanger UAS has achieved approval for commercial Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) flight operations in the San Joaquin Valley, California from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

This groundbreaking development allows AATI’s AiRanger aircraft to conduct commercial operations at medium altitudes under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) beyond the pilot’s line of sight without airborne or ground observers, marking a first-of-its-kind milestone for the unmanned aviation industry.  The AiRanger is a 220-pound aircraft capable of flying for 12hours and up to 750-miles at altitudes to 12,000’ MSL. The specific approvals granted allow operations over a 4,350 square mile area at up to 8,000’ MSL.

“For the first time, an uncrewed aircraft weighing more than 55 pounds that flies above 400 feet has been approved for commercial Beyond Visual Line-ofSight operations in the United States, opening a new era in uncrewed aviation in the National Airspace System. The uncrewed AiRanger eliminates the risk to flight crews on traditional patrol aircraft while producing 35 times less CO2. It is also capable of patrolling at 30 times the rate of BVLOS sUAS operating under 400’. While AATI is focused on the oil & gas section, we believe that these enormous advantages will propel significant growth in the marketplace in a wide variety of markets,” David Yoel, Founder and CEO of American Aerospace Technologies, Inc.

While the AiRanger is available with a range of traditional sensors, AATI also manufactures intelligent sensors that, in combination with the aircrafts real-time communications systems, deliver actional data on threats and leaks to oil & gas infrastructure in near realtime.

The AiRanger’s initial deployment will be for critical infrastructure patrol, threat detection and reporting, focusing on pipeline surveillance in partnership with Chevron Pipe Line and Power (CPP). The operation is vital for maintaining pipeline integrity and safety, ensuring quick response to potential hazards or leaks. The AiRanger’s advanced systems, including its Detect and Avoid (DAA) and communications technologies, have been meticulously tested for safe operations within the National Airspace System (NAS).

Commitment to Safety and Compliance

“AATI is committed to advancing the UAS industry while adhering to the highest safety standards,” said Jerry Brooks, Senior Aerospace Engineer at AATI. The approval process involved comprehensive risk assessments, showcasing AATI’s dedication to safety and regulatory compliance. The successful application of BVLOS operations sets a precedent in the industry, paving the way for future advancements in unmanned aircraft systems.
